Russia and Ukraine have released a total of 190 imprisoned soldiers as part of their latest prisoner exchange, according to Moscow's statements. Ninety-five Russian soldiers "in life-threatening conditions" have returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime as a result of a negotiation process, the Russian Defense Ministry announced on Telegram on a Wednesday. In return, Kiev handed over "95 prisoners of the Ukrainian army" to them.

The last major prisoner exchange between Moscow and Kiev took place about a month ago. In late June, each side exchanged 90 imprisoned military personnel. Prior to that, in February, each side returned 100 prisoners. Since the beginning of Russia's offensive in Ukraine in February 2022, the two countries have already exchanged hundreds of prisoners. The remains of slain soldiers are also regularly returned to the respective countries.

After the latest prisoner exchange, Russia now has its soldiers back in the country, including those in critical conditions who were previously held in Ukraine-controlled territory. According to Russian Defense Ministry's announcement, this exchange followed a negotiation process with Kiev. The information about the prisoner exchange and the condition of the soldiers was shared by Moscow, indicating the ongoing efforts for peace between Russia and Ukraine.
