Accident in Hamburg - Run over by a bus: Woman loses leg while helping a wheelchair user

At an accident in the Hamburg district of Billwerder, a woman was seriously injured. The 59-year-old woman helped a wheelchair user getting off a bus near an S-Bahn station in the afternoon. In doing so, she got under the rear wheels of the bus, as reported by the "Bergedorfer Zeitung". The woman lost part of her leg in the accident.

Previously, the woman had complained that the wheelchair user was not helped. According to the "Bergedorfer Zeitung", the victim helped the wheelchair user over a footpath and then returned to the bus. It is still unclear whether she spoke to the bus driver or wanted to continue traveling with the bus. The bus driver apparently did not notice her and drove on, causing the woman to get her leg under the bus's rear axle.

Accident with Bus in Hamburg: Two people in the hospital

Police and emergency services were on the scene with a large deployment. A crisis intervention team was also reportedly present. The injured woman was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. The bus driver suffered a severe shock and was also taken to a clinic, reported the "Bild". The police are investigating the further circumstances of the accident.

"We are thinking of the injured person and hope that it will get better for her soon," said a spokeswoman for Verkehrsbetriebe Hamburg-Holstein (VHH) to the "Bergedorfer Zeitung". Regarding the ongoing investigations, she did not want to comment. However, she expressed her support "in every way possible".
