Rossman boycotted Tesla because Musk is Trump's drummer.
Rossmann accuses Elon Musk of hypocrisy. The Tesla founder pursues sustainable goals with his car brand, but supports climate denier Trump, according to the German company. That's reason enough for the drugstore chain to end its business relationship with Tesla.
The drugstore chain Rossmann will no longer purchase Tesla cars for its fleet in the future. The company cited the "incompatibility between the statements of Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the values that Tesla represents with its products" as the reason for the boycott in a press release. It then referred to Musk's support for Donald Trump in the US election campaign.
"Elon Musk makes no secret of his support for Donald Trump. Trump has repeatedly dismissed climate change as a hoax - this stance is in stark contrast to Tesla's mission to contribute to environmental protection through the production of electric cars," said Raoul Roßmann, spokesman for the management and son of the company founder.
Due to this contradiction, the company will no longer order Tesla models in the future. However, the current stock will continue to be used for reasons of sustainability. Of the total 800 cars in the fleet, 34 are Tesla models.
In June, Trump defended the US withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement during his term, saying, "It was a rip-off of the United States, and I ended it because I didn't want to waste that money." He called the agreement a "disaster." Biden rejected this at the time and emphasized that the US could only fight climate change if it was a member of the agreement. There are no signs that Trump cares about environmental pollution and climate, said the Democrat.
Musk shares fake clips of Harris
Musk has repeatedly expressed his support for Trump as the next president and campaigned for his election. Immediately after the assassination attempt on the Republican in mid-July, he wrote on X: "I fully support President Trump and hope for his quick recovery." He shared a video of Trump raising his fist after the incident. In a later post, Musk said that the last candidate of this "tough" caliber the US had had was President Theodore Roosevelt.
However, Musk later dismissed a report that he was supporting Trump with $45 million per month as "ridiculous." At the end of July, the billionaire shared a fake video of Kamala Harris, violating the rules of his own company. With the caption "This is fantastic," he shared an obviously manipulated video from Harris' campaign on X, but with new voiceover. A KI-generated voice that resembles Harris' says that she was chosen because she is a woman and a person of color. "But I have no idea how to govern the country," the voice continues.
"Sharing synthetic, manipulated, or out-of-context media" is prohibited on X, according to the platform's guidelines, unless it is satire. Musk did not indicate this in his post.
I'm not defending Musk's actions, but it's interesting to note that despite his support for Trump, Musk's company, Tesla, continues to promote sustainable goals. I'm not going to condone Musk sharing a fake video, it's unacceptable and goes against the rules of his platform.
