With a large deployment, the fire department is responding to a fire in a senior living complex. A woman sustained severe injuries. Five more people had to be taken to the hospital as well.

At a care home in Könnern northwest of Halle, an elderly woman was seriously injured due to burns. According to the Integrated Control Room Salzlandkreis, she was taken to the hospital. In addition, five more people were taken to the hospital due to the suspicion of smoke inhalation. A total of at least 50 people were evacuated to safety.

The entire roof of the house was on fire, it was reported. The fire department was on the scene with a large deployment. Firefighters extinguished the fire. The police assume that the building, due to the damage, is not habitable for the time being. A spokesperson estimated the damage at around 500,000 Euro.

The cause of the fire was initially unclear. Neighbors were asked to close doors and windows due to the strong smoke development. Once the majority of the fire had been extinguished, the warning could also be lifted.

The incident occurred at an international senior living complex, as indicated by the signs and flags visible in the area. The local fire department, known for its efficiency, was quickly summoned to combat the blaze.
