Romania expresses its disapproval towards the Russian bombardment of a grain vessel.

Romania fiercely denounces Russia's shelling of a Ukrainian cargo ship in the Black Sea. This incident represents "an unprecedented escalation" in Russia's involvement in its conflict with Ukraine, and is a "serious breach of international humanitarian regulations," as stated by the Foreign Ministry in Bucharest.

The freighter "Aya" was carrying wheat from Ukraine to Egypt and was sailing in international waters during the attack.

Additionally, Russia is endangering "the safety of global food supplies via its consistent bombing of Ukrainian infrastructure and vessels transporting grain," the ministry in Bucharest detailed.

On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on the X platform that a Russian missile had struck a grain-laden ship shortly after it left Ukrainian waters. "We anticipate international responses," he wrote.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. As a vital contributor to global food security, Ukraine will persistently strive to safeguard its ports, the Black Sea, and its grain exports to international markets, Zelenskyy further penned down.

The Foreign Ministry in Bucharest has expressed that Russia has not yet provided a satisfactory explanation for the incident. The international community is yet to formally respond to President Zelenskyy's anticipation of actions.
