Rheinmetall, a leading arms manufacturer, is hiring experts from Continental, a prominent automotive supplier.
German companies Rheinmetall and Continental have decided to team up in addressing their respective needs for skilled workers, reporting in Handelsblatt reveals. Rheinmetall aims to fill its growing workforce requirements by recruiting from Continental, as both enterprises have signed an agreement.
As the paper discussed, the increasing demand for defense products has been a result of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. This has led to a significant rise in production capacity and a need for new, skilled employees for defense manufacturers like Rheinmetall. Conversely, the automotive industry faced the need to reduce expenses and headcount as part of their transformation.
The initial move made by the two companies will have around a hundred employees from Continental's Gifhorn site in Lower Saxony relocate to Rheinmetall's Unterlüß site, 55 kilometers away. Rheinmetall is currently constructing a new, 300-million-euro artillery factory at the Unterlüß site.
This partnership aligns with the "German industrial solution for sustainable employment security", Handelsblatt noted. Additional exchanges between Rheinmetall and automakers Mahle, Bosch, and ZF have also taken place, according to the newspaper's sources.
