The tourism industry in Rhineland-Palatinate looks back on the first half of 2024 with satisfaction. The tourist regions have been well visited in the past few months, according to Rheinland-Palatinate Tourism GmbH in their half-yearly balance. Both visitor numbers (plus 3.1%) and overnight guests (plus 3.6%) therefore exceeded the previous year.

Short vacations over extended weekends have been particularly popular. Stefan Zindler, managing director of Rheinland-Palatinate Tourism GmbH, was pleased, "that so many guests have used the first half of the year, especially the Pentecost holidays and extended weekends, for a holiday in Rhineland-Palatinate".

Cycling and hiking trails in the country, as well as cruises on the Rhine and Mosel, are particularly popular trends. According to the Rheinland-Palatinate Tourism GmbH, most guests come from neighboring federal states, foreign tourists often come from the Benelux countries, Great Britain, and the USA to Rhinland-Palatinate.

"And the outlook for the summer months is also optimistic, there is already a good booking situation emerging," said Zindler. Many regions are already fully booked at the weekend.

The tourist attraction of Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, along the Rhine, has contributed to the overall increase in tourism statistics. The popularity of cycling and hiking trails, as well as river cruises, has made Rhineland-Palatinate a sought-after vacation destination for both domestic and international tourists. Frequently visiting neighboring federal states and the Benelux countries, Great Britain, and the USA, tourists often choose Rhineland-Palatinate as their preferred tourism industry destination.
