Before the summer holidays in Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Criminal Investigation Office (LUA) reports a "low-activity" infection situation for respiratory diseases. The number of Corona infections is "on a low level in the normal fluctuation range", the LUA in Koblenz stated. No influenza- nor RSV cases have been detected in samples taken in the state. This is evident from samples of 27 doctor's practices of the state-owned project. According to the office, 41 Rheinland-Palatinate house and pediatric doctor's practices are participating in this.

Nationwide, the Robert Koch Institute reports a comparatively high incidence of respiratory infections for this season. The infection situation is mainly determined by common cold viruses such as Rhinoviruses. The increase in Corona cases observed in recent weeks has not continued in all systems at present. The number of severe respiratory infections is, however, on a low level.

"In fact, our colleagues report an increased occurrence of acute respiratory diseases, including colds and Covid-19," said a spokeswoman for the Medical Association Rhineland-Palatinate at the same time. "To protect yourself from infection during the upcoming holidays, the known hygiene measures from the pandemic can help prevent infection."
