Signals disturbed - Rail traffic at Cottbus main station still restricted

According to the railway company's announcements, the railway traffic around Cottbus Hauptbahnhof is expected to be restricted until Thursday. Following a signal failure and a temporary halt of all trains on Monday, only part of the trains are operating today, as the railway company stated.

For the RE2 line to and from Berlin/Nauen and to Falkenberg (Elster)/Leipzig (RB43), the regular train schedule is reportedly in place. Trains on lines RE10 and RB43 between Cottbus and Guben, as well as between Cottbus and Frankfurt/Oder (RB43), Forst (RB46), and Zittau (RB65), were not running at present.

Passengers traveling between Cottbus Hbf and Guben can switch to bus line 877 instead. Trains of the Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG) are also affected by the restrictions in Cottbus.

According to the railway company, important cable installations at the railway works were damaged during construction work on Monday. These cables are essential for setting signals and switches. The railway is working at high pressure on the repair. The repairs are predicted to last until Thursday afternoon. Replacement parts need to be procured and installed, as stated.

  1. Due to the signal interference caused by the damage to crucial cable installations at the railway works in Cottbus, rail traffic on various lines, including those to Berlin, Falkenberg, Guben, Frankfurt (Oder), Forst, and Zittau, is significantly affected.
  2. The disruptions in rail traffic around Cottbus Hauptbahnhof are also impacting the railroad company ODEG, affecting their train services.
  3. Despite the traffic restrictions, passengers can still travel between Cottbus Hbf and Guben using bus line 877 as an alternative.
  4. The damages sustained during the construction work on Monday are affecting the rail traffic in Brandenburg, with repairs underway to replace and install necessary parts, expected to last until Thursday afternoon.
  5. Passengers are advised to check for updates and consider alternative routes, as the rail traffic around Cottbus Hauptbahnhof will remain restricted until Thursday, impacting traffic flow between Cottbus and various neighboring cities.
