Raid at Islamic Center in Hamburg

Dozens of policemen sealed off the Blue Mosque in Hamburg early in the morning. According to a dpa reporter, they began searching the Shiite place of worship, which is run by the Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH) identified by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution as extremist and controlled by Iran. A spokesperson for the Federal Ministry of the Interior had said in April that an association-law investigation into the IZH would be "ongoing."

The Blue Mosque, located in Hamburg, is affiliated with the extremist Islamic Center Hamburg (IZH), which has been under investigation by the German Federal Ministry of the Interior for association-law violations due to its alleged control by Iran. German authorities have expressed concerns about the spread of extremist ideologies within the IZH.
