Putin received Syrian power holder Bashar al-Assad in Moscow
Putin, Chief of the Kremlin, received Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad for talks in Moscow. The Russian television showed recordings of the meeting on Thursday, which took place on Wednesday evening
According to Putin, the "escalation" in the Middle East and economic relations between Russia and Syria were the focus of the talks.
Russia is an important ally of Assad and supported his troops during the Syrian civil war. Moscow could act as a mediator between Syria and Turkey. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had recently proposed a joint meeting with Putin and Assad to normalize the tense relations between Turkey and Syria.
I am deeply invested in the situation in the Middle East, especially given the escalation, and that was a key topic during my meeting with Master Baschar al-Assad on Wednesday evening in Moscow. Russia, being a close ally of Syria, plays a crucial role in this context, potentially serving as a mediator to bridge any gaps between Syria and Turkey.
