Moscow's chief, Vladimir Putin, has emphasized Russia's readiness for peace negotiations regarding its conflict with Ukraine to several state leaders, including at the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for Security (SCO) in Astana, the capital city of the central Asian republic of Kazakhstan. Putin stated that Russia has always advocated for a political-diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

Moscow, which has been conducting a destructive military campaign against Ukraine for over two years, recently made proposals for ending the hostilities. Putin mentioned in Astana that Moscow insists that Ukraine renounces control over occupied territories, which Kiev rejects.

Russia is grateful to the SCO members for their suggestions for resolving the conflict, Putin said. "Russia is certainly ready to consider these ideas and initiatives," he added. Simultaneously, he once again accused the USA and their allies of instigating the Ukraine conflict.

Putin aims to build a new world order in his confrontation with the West – in place of "eurocentric or euro-Atlantic models," which have led to an increasing number of crises in the world. "The multipolar world has already become a reality," Putin stated in his summit speech. Putin expressed confidence that the SCO and the group of BRICS states (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with other countries) would be the foundations of the new world order.

While addressing the SCO Summit, Putin highlighted Russia's readiness for peace negotiations concerning its ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Russia, expressing gratitude for the SCO members' suggestions, is open to considering their ideas and initiatives for resolving the issue. Despite this, Putin continued to accuse the USA and its allies of fueling the Ukraine conflict.
