Putin allows his biography to be expanded

Up until now, Putin's biography on the Kreml website ended in the year 2018. Since then, several things have happened. For instance, the Football World Cup in Russia, which was supposedly changed the world's perception of Russia. Corona. And of course, the annexation of Crimea.

For the first time in six years, Russian President Vladimir Putin has updated his official biography on the website of the Russian Presidential Administration. This was reported by the state Russian news agency Tass.

The Football World Cup 2018 in Russia was added, which allegedly caused "millions of people to change their opinion about Russia," according to Putin's quotes in the text. Important for Putin was also the opening of the Crimean Bridge in the same year. Since Russia's attack on Ukraine, this bridge had been a frequent target of Ukrainian attacks, as it supplies the Kremlin troops at the southern front.

The Corona pandemic is mentioned in the text as a challenge overcome. Unfortunately, a photo of the long tables where Putin once received guests is missing.

A "key event in the president's biography" is the "military special operation in Ukraine," according to Tass. The biography emphasizes that the decision for this was made "in accordance with the UN Charter." This is incorrect: The UN Charter prohibits aggressive wars - which could be the reason why Russia does not call it a "war."

The purpose of the "special operation" was, according to Putin's biographical statements on the Kreml website, "to protect people who had been subjected to humiliation and genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years." Therefore, Russia "will denazify and demilitarize Ukraine." With these lies, the Russian ruler justified the invasion in February 2022. In reality, there were neither "humiliation" nor "genocide" in Eastern Ukraine. What there was, were the "People's Republics" of Donetsk and Luhansk, which had been controlled by separatists since 2014.

After the invasion of Ukraine, not only the completely Ukrainian regions of Luhansk and Donetsk were annexed by Russia, but also the regions of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson. In all these areas, Russia staged sham "referendums" to give the illegal annexations a legal veneer. These fake referendums were also included in Putin's Online Biography. The text ends with his re-election in March 2024 as Russian President with an alleged 87% of the votes.

  1. Despite Russia's propaganda claiming that the attack on Ukraine was to protect people from humiliation and genocide, international observations disputed these claims, as there was no evidence of such atrocities in Eastern Ukraine.
  2. Russian President Vladimir Putin, amidst ongoing politics and international tension, updated his biography on the Kreml website, highlighting the 'military special operation in Ukraine' as a significant event, which was allegedly carried out in accordance with the UN Charter.
  3. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the annexation of Crimea, a frequent target of Ukrainian attacks due to supplying Kremlin troops at the southern front, was furthered by the illegal annexations of Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, all achieved through sham referendums, as stated in Vladimir Putin's biography on the Kreml website.
