Following the assault on an AfD politician in Mannheim, officials confiscated the perpetrator and transported him to a psychiatric institution, as per law enforcement investigations. It was revealed on Wednesday that there were noticeable symptoms of a mental health issue during his apprehension. As of yet, there's no solid evidence to suggest that the suspect recognized the victim as a political figure from AfD during the attack.
On Tuesday night, the alleged individual is reported to have harmed and stolen multiple election posters. Eyewitnesses claimed to have notified the police, while the AfD politician in question also detected the issue and chased down the suspect. The 25-year-old is believed to have wounded the pursuer with a carpet knife. Thankfully, the victim's injuries weren't severe and they were treated at a hospital.
Upon the suspect's flight from the scene, authorities managed to find and detain him. No resistance from his part was reported.
