Bookbinding in Marburg - Protests against right-wing extremist Martin Sellner planned
Against a planned reading by right-wing extremist Martin Sellner in Marburg, a protest is forming up. The city Marburg and the network for Democracy and against Right-wing Extremism are planning a demonstration on Monday evening in front of the Erwin-Piscator-House. It is under the motto "No Propaganda for Remigration". The organizers expect, according to a city spokesperson, between 2.000 and 3.000 participants.
According to the city, Sellner plans to read from his book "Remigration" at an as-yet-unknown location on Monday evening. The event is supposed to take place in private quarters. "We strongly condemn and with full force that Martin Sellner wants to propagate theories for the expulsion of part of our residents in Marburg", wrote Marburg Mayor Thomas Spies (SPD) in advance.
Mayor: Sellner's Theses are a danger to the community
The city considers Sellner's "hate-filled theses" a danger to the community as well as to Democracy and the Constitution. "The university city of Marburg is a diverse, tolerant, and open city where there is no place for Right-wing Extremism, hate, incitement, and any other form of hatred", so the Mayor.
Sellner was the head of the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement in Austria. In November 2023, he spoke about "Remigration" at a meeting in a Potsdam villa. The media house "Correctiv" had made the meeting public.
When Right-wing Extremists use the term, they usually mean that a large number of people of foreign origin should leave the country - even by force. The term had been chosen as the "Word of the Year". A planned entry ban for Sellner in Germany had failed in court.
- Despite the planned demonstration against him in Marburg by the network for Democracy and against Right-wing Extremism, Martin Sellner, the former leader of the Austrian right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement, intends to read from his book "Remigration" in private quarters on Monday evening.

- Mayor Thomas Spies of Marburg, expressing his city's stance against right-wing extremism, asserted that Marburg is a diverse, tolerant, and open city that does not tolerate any form of right-wing extremism, hate, incitement, or any other form of hatred.
