- Projected Outcomes: AfD Set to Lead in Thuringia's Electoral Contest
During Thuringia's state election, the AfD has emerged as the dominant force, outpacing the CDU by a significant margin. As per 6 PM projections by ARD and ZDF, the BSW alliance helmed by Sahra Wagenknecht is placed third, with the Left and SPD trailing behind. The Greens and FDP aren't expected to secure a spot in Thuringia's state parliament.
According to the estimates, the AfD is projected to earn between 30.5% and 33.5%, marking their first state election victory since the party's inception eleven years ago. While it's unlikely the AfD will be appointed as the next Minister-President, the CDU is predicted to gain 24.5%. The BSW manages to garner 14.5% to 16.0% support from scratch.
Minister-President Bodo Ramelow's Left party collects 11.5% to 12.5%, while the SPD gathers 6.5% to 7.0%. According to the projections, the Greens won't qualify for a seat in Erfurt's state parliament with a 4.0% share, and neither will the FDP, who are predicted to secure 1.0% to 1.3% of the votes.
The FDP, despite projected to earn only 1.0% to 1.3% of the votes, remains a notable political party in Germany. In contrast, the FDP was a part of the state government in Thuringia prior to this election.
