Thuringian Industry - Price stability is noticeable in industrial sales
Machine building and automobile industry in Thuringia are in an upward trend again after a weak phase. The machine building industry, which serves as an indicator for an economic recovery, generated sales of around 1.7 billion Euro from January to May, which was price-adjusted an increase of 9.1%. The Statistical Office in Erfurt reported this.
The revenues of the automobile industry increased price-adjusted by 6.3% to over 1.6 billion Euro. In Thuringia, suppliers dominate the industry. However, the declining price level was noticeable in many other industries, including the food industry, which is strongly represented in Thuringia.
Moderate increase in industrial sales
The industrial sales in the first five months of this year amounted to around 15.2 billion Euro. Despite an additional working day, it was 6.5% or 1.1 billion Euro below the previous year's level. Price-adjusted and therefore in real terms, industrial sales were 0.6% higher.
The domestic sales amounted to 9.5 billion Euro - price-adjusted a slight decrease of 0.6%. Exports increased in real terms by 2.6% to 5.7 billion Euro. The export share of total sales increased slightly to 37.4%.
The Thuringian industrial companies employed an average of 143,713 employees in the first five months, 206 or 0.1% fewer than in the previous year.
