Previously Serving Communications Role for Trump, Now Advocating for Harris

A one-time spokesperson for President Donald Trump's campaign championed Democratic vice-presidential nominee Kamala Harris at the party's convention. Stephanie Grisham shared her perspective at the Democratic rally in Chicago, stating that following her time under Trump, she now represents Harris at the convention. "She values the American people," Grisham claimed of Harris. "And she has my vote."
Grisham served as press secretary to Melania Trump from 2017 to 2019, later taking on the roles of press secretary and communications director under Donald Trump for approximately nine months. She then rejoined Melania Trump's team as spokesperson before briefly serving as her chief of staff.

In Chicago, Grisham declared that she had once wholeheartedly backed Trump. "I was amongst his closest advisors. The Trump family became like my family." She celebrated major holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's with the Trumps. "I saw him when the cameras weren't rolling," Grisham recalled of Trump. "In private, he belittled his supporters." He showed a lack of compassion, ethics, and loyalty to truth.
Trump frequently urged Grisham, "It doesn't matter what you say, Stephanie, just say it enough, and people will believe you." However, Grisham cautioned that what one says and fails to say is significant. After the mob attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, she resigned because she no longer wished to be "part of this chaos." After departing the Trump administration, Grisham published a book and has since been an outspoken critic of the former president.
In addition to Grisham, another former Trump supporter appeared at the Democratic convention, expressing his disillusionment with the Republican's trade policies. He now supports Harris for president.
Grisham, who once advocated for Trump in his presidential campaign, now publicly endorses Kamala Harris during the 2024 US presidential election. In her speech at the Democratic Convention, she criticizes Trump's private behavior and lack of compassion, culminating in her decision to resign after the Capitol attack.
With the 2024 US presidential election on the horizon, it's worth noting that even some former Trump supporters, like Grisham, have shifted their allegiances, now backing Democratic candidates.
