In Villingen-Schwenningen, a retired soldier is currently under trial at the local court due to allegations of confining himself in his house, armed with weapons and explosives. During the court proceedings, the 63-year-old expressed regret, asserting, "I acknowledge my mistake, I wouldn't repeat it. It simply happened." He attributed his actions to being at his wit's end.
The man is charged with preparing an explosion, obstructing law enforcement, endangering public safety, and acts of cruelty towards animals, as he supposedly put down his cat with a lethal headshot.
In January, it is claimed that he barricaded himself inside a residence in Unterkirnach, Black Forest, for several hours, threatening to demolish the building, which no longer belonged to him, and contemplating suicide. Neighbors were evacuated, and heavily armed special troops were dispatched.
The property was discovered to be filled with 'numerous' weapons, explosives, firearms, and numerous ammunition rounds. Ignition mechanisms were fixed to the floor and doorways to ignite gasoline upon unauthorized entry. According to the prosecution, the man was under the influence of medication.
"I had given up on the world," the sports shooter admitted. After more than ten hours, he surrendered peacefully and is currently on bail. It remains uncertain if a verdict will be announced on Wednesday.
