- Previous Democratic presidential nominee backs Trump's election bid

Previous Democratic presidential hopeful and ex-congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, who severed ties with her party, is throwing her support behind Republican candidate Donald Trump for the upcoming November elections. Gabbard vowed to utilize all her abilities to aid Trump in reclaiming the White House, she declared.

Assessing conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, the ex-National Guard member suggested that, if chosen, Trump would prioritize bringing the U.S. "back from the edge of war." Conversely, she maintains that Democratic candidate, Vice President Kamala Harris, advocates for the restriction of liberties and misuse of power.

Gabbard pursued the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 but garnered minimal opportunities for victory, ultimately endorsing Joe Biden, who clinched the victory for the Democrats. During her campaign, Gabbard advocated for the de-militarization of U.S. foreign policies.

The 43-year-old politician found herself on the defensive against claims that her candidacy was bolstered by Russia with the sole intention of undermining the Democrats. Trump repeatedly stood by Gabbard, facing such allegations, which some Democrats perceived with further uncertainty.

Gabbard represented Hawaii in the House of Representatives from 2013 to 2021. Her views frequently diverged from her party's ideologies. In 2017, she journeyed to Syria to engage in discussions with tyrant Bashar al-Assad, an act that sparked broad criticism. After departing parliament, Gabbard distanced herself from the Democrats and has since become a frequent figure in conservative broadcasts.

Despite her past as a Democratic representative, Tulsi Gabbard's actions during the 2020 election campaign, such as endorsing Donald Trump's election bid, indicated a shift in allegiances. During her election campaign, Gabbard expressed her desire for Donald Trump to focus on de-escalating conflicts, particularly in the Middle East and Ukraine, in his potential second term as president.
