With a maximum temperature of 36.5 degrees Celsius, today has been the hottest day of the year so far, according to preliminary data from the German Weather Service (DWD). This value was recorded in the Rhineland-Palatinate town of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, as reported by a DWD meteorologist. This surpasses the previous record of 35.7 degrees Celsius, also recorded provisionally, at the same location.
It was particularly hot in Baden-Württemberg on Tuesday, with measurements in Waghäusel-Kirrlach reaching 36.3 degrees. In Andernach, Rhineland-Palatinate, the DWD recorded 36.2 degrees provisionally. The same value was registered in Ennigerloh-Ostenfelde, North Rhine-Westphalia, according to the spokesperson. However, the 36-degree mark was also broken in Bavaria, with provisional values showing 36.1 degrees in Kitzingen.
The intense heat isn't limited to Rhineland-Palatinate, as Baden-Württemberg also experienced a high of 36.3 degrees in Waghäusel-Kirrlach. This continuing weather trend has caused provisional records to be broken in multiple German regions, including Andernach and Ennigerloh-Ostenfelde.
