- Potential family dispute serving as potential trigger for gunfire at Central Station

After the deadly shootings at Frankfurt's main station, the prosecutor's office is probing hints of a family dispute in Turkey as a potential motive. This was declared by Dominik Mies, the spokesperson for the authorities, who didn't disclose additional info on this matter. A 54-year-old Turkish national is suspected of murdering a 27-year-old Turkish man on Tuesday evening.

Previously, Turkish media had hinted at a family feud as the crime's basis, but they failed to cite sources. "Hürriyet" newspaper reported a feud between two Kurdish families without providing sources. Mies, responding to questions about a Kurdish family feud, stated he couldn't comment.

The suspected assailant was apprehended by federal police officers near the crime scene on Tuesday evening. They successfully stopped him from boarding a train. As per Mies, the suspect hails from Ortenau district, Baden-Württemberg, with no added details about his residence.

A warrant for the 54-year-old's arrest on murder charges has been issued. He's yet to make any statements regarding these allegations.

The victim, a transient, perished at the crime scene. The suspect allegedly approached him at track 9's height, firing at his head from behind. After the 27-year-old collapsed, the suspect is said to have fired two more shots into the man's head before dumping the weapon and fleeing. The prosecutor's office confirmed this.

The station was closed for trains and passengers for roughly 25 minutes following the shooting. Investigators discovered the suspected weapon during the search. A night-time weapons ban has been in effect at Frankfurt's main station since June 1.

Security camera footage shows the shooting

Circulating internet footage from a security camera, believed to be of the incident, shows the targeted shots. Initially, the investigators declined to comment on the footage's authenticity, but Mies now states it matches the footage available to the prosecutor's office.

Various Turkish media outlets reported details of an extended, bloody family feud. Mies indicated there are currently no concrete investigatory findings indicating alleged crime scenarios in Turkey. Some details published in the media don't align.

Investigations are ongoing: "We're still evaluating traces, interrogating witnesses, and conducting all types of investigations. We won't rest until the crime is solved."

The shooting occurred at Frankfurt's main railway station, where the victim, a transient, was tragically killed. Authorities are currently evaluating traces and interrogating witnesses at the main station, hoping to uncover more information about the family dispute in Turkey as a possible motive for the crime.
