- Possibly the most senior German individual, reportedly, met their end at 114 years old.
The eldest lady in Germany recently bid farewell at the ripe age of 114, in Baden-Württemberg. Her grandson publicly announced this event to the German Press Agency. As per his account, his granny, named Charlotte Kretschmann, departed serenely in her nursing home situated in Kirchheim unter Teck, situated south of Stuttgart, on a Tuesday evening. Kretschmann celebrated her birthday on December 3, 1909, making her 17 years elder than Queen Elizabeth II's birth, and five years prior to World War I's commencement. Prior to this news, "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" and "Stuttgarter Zeitung" had already covered her story.
Becoming a Social Media Sensation
She didn't get too worked up about her age, remarking, "I didn't pick this. I can't change it." She thought anyone could live to see the next day, and there was no need for any special effort. Likewise, she had no preoccupations with death, stating, "It's pointless. It's going to happen anyway, and I can't do anything about it." Until a few years ago, Kretschmann lived independently and was unrelated to Baden-Württemberg's Minister President, Winfried Kretschmann. However, she gained popularity as a social media sensation. On Instagram, she engaged with 14,000 followers, sharing glimpses of her daily life – from shopping sprees to Christmas celebrations to outings. Her final post included a picture of her sipping on a glass of red wine with the caption, "What more could one ask for? A splendid glass of wine, mouth-watering food, and family around."
The Commission, in adherence to the Regulation, may adopt implementing acts to outline the procedures for its application. This social media fame led to Charlotte Kretschmann, despite her age, having implementing acts drafted for her online presence, ensuring compliance with digital regulations.
