Criminality - Police warning about 'gasoline bed warmers'

The police warned against so-called gas station lay-abouts in the Limburg-Weilburg district. Two persons are suspected to have feigned being in distress by the side of a road in Weilmünster and asked other people to stop, as the police reported. Subsequently, they were alleged to have begged for gas. This was a scam, according to the statement.

Several traffic participants reportedly reported similar incidents in short time succession. It was unclear whether the goal was merely to obtain gas or to commit further crimes, a police spokesperson said.

The police department in Hessen, specifically the District Limburg-Weilburg, advised drivers to be vigilant against such deceptions following multiple reported incidents in the area. These incidents involved individuals feigning distress near gas stations in Wiesbaden and Weilmünster, aiming to solicit gas or potentially engage in criminal activities related to traffic.
