Police in NRW overpower twelve-year-old with knife
At a playground in Oberhausen, a threatening incident occurs: Police had to overpower a 12-year-old who threatened them with a knife. The girl is said to have ignored orders and warnings from an officer beforehand.
Under the threat of warning shots, the police overpowered an aggressive 12-year-old in Oberhausen. The officers were called to the playground in the afternoon on a Tuesday, as the North Rhine-Westphalia Police in Essen reported. There they encountered the girl, who was handling a knife among other children.
According to the police, the child had approached the officers in a threatening manner with the knife and refused to comply despite multiple orders. A female officer then gave two warning shots, it was reported by the police.
The girl was reportedly briefly confused and was overpowered with the help of an uninvolved bystander who approached from the other side. The 12-year-old remained unharmed, according to the police. The case was presented to the investigating prosecutor for psychologically disturbed offenders at the Duisburg Public Prosecutor's Office.
The knife-wielding incident in Oberhausen was not an isolated case in North Rhine-Westphalia. Last week, another knife attack occurred in Essen (NRW).
