Machete on board - Police: Drunk speeding driver pulled over on Ku'damm
The police stopped a suspected reckless driver in Berlin-Halensee without a driver's license and reportedly under the influence of alcohol. The 20-year-old was driving too fast on the bus lane of the Kurfürstendamm and kept changing lanes abruptly, causing other cars to brake, according to the police. A patrol car took up the pursuit.
The police turned on their blue lights and horn and ordered the suspect to stop - but he reportedly continued to drive. When he had to stop in a street due to traffic conditions, the police stopped him and his 18-year-old passenger. During a check, it was found that the driver did not have a valid driver's license. A ready-to-hand machete was also found in the car, according to the police.
The car was seized. The driver's personal details were taken and a blood sample was taken. It was found that he was significantly under the influence of alcohol and medication. He was released, but now an investigation is being conducted against him for driving without a valid license and unauthorized vehicle racing.
The suspect's reckless driving on Kurfürstendamm drew the attention of numerous bystanders, who were alarmed by the traffic chaos caused by his erratic maneuvers. The police intervened in the busy Berlin street, with the suspicion of a crime involving a car and traffic violations. Despite the presence of a bus lane intended for public transportation, the driver disregarded rules, potentially endangering other commuters.
