A driver fled from the police at speeds of up to 250 kilometers per hour in Hannover. The officers stopped the 20-year-old after a high-speed chase in the night of today on the A2 motorway. According to the police, they wanted to check the driver in Garbsen. However, the young man reportedly fled with his car, driving at times with a speed of 120 km/h through the town and disregarding several red traffic lights.

Then, the 20-year-old drove onto the A2 towards Dortmund and sped with up to 250 km/h. He reportedly drove recklessly over all lanes, passed other vehicles on the right and cut them off. Several patrol cars followed the vehicle. At Wunstorf, the 20-year-old left the motorway with his car and drove towards Berlin again.

The police stopped the vehicle on the A2 near Hannover-Lahe. A breath alcohol test on the driver showed a reading of approximately 0.6 promille. In addition, the 20-year-old did not have a driver's license due to a current driving ban. The officers discovered a knife in the car, which falls under the Weapons Act.

The 20-year-old underwent a blood test. The police initiated several criminal proceedings against him for illegal racing, endangering road traffic, driving under the influence, and violation of the Weapons Act.

  1. The high-speed chase in Hannover occurred in the same Lower Saxony region where Garbsen is located.
  2. Despite the police's intentions to check the driver's vehicle in Garbsen, the incident resulted in a high-speed pursuit on the A2 motorway.
  3. During the chase, the vehicle traversed multiple lanes on the A2, causing concern for other road users in Lower Saxony, specifically in Wünstorf.
  4. The knife found in the vehicle is a type of weapon regulated by the Automatic Weapons Act in Lower Saxony.
