Jan Redmann - Police caught CDU leading politician with 1.3 promille on e-scooter
The CDU's leading candidate for the Brandenburg state election in September, Jan Redmann, was stopped by the police on an E-Scooter while drunk on Thursday evening. He was "routinely asked for an alcohol test by the police" after leaving an evening with friends, Redmann stated on Friday in Potsdam. The quick test showed an alcohol level of 1.3 promille. "I will bear the consequences of my mistake," Redmann said. He had already voluntarily surrendered his driver's license.
Redmann intends to deal with the incident transparently and openly. The CDU politician announced that he would "continue the campaign unabated and fight for our ideas for Brandenburg." He considered himself responsible and able, but not error-free.
"I am running for the office of Minister President of the Land Brandenburg – the citizens have the right to know who Jan Redmann is," Redmann stated. He was someone who was willing to take responsibility and could, but was not free of errors.
