Police catch wanted murderer at border control
In Brandenburg, a 45-year-old man is facing extradition for border control. Although he presents a valid passport, it is revealed that he is an internationally wanted murderer. The man now faces extradition to Turkey.
The German Federal Police arrested a convicted murderer with an international arrest warrant at a border control in Frankfurt (Oder). According to the German Federal Police, the man was controlled at the Stadtbrücke crossing on a Thursday afternoon.
The man presented a valid Polish passport during the check. However, during the verification process, it was discovered that there was an international arrest warrant against the Turkey-born man from the Turkish justice authorities.
According to the arrest warrant, the suspect was sentenced to attempted murder in April 2007 and murder in October 2009 by the Turkish justice authorities. He now faces extradition to Turkey.
The international arrest warrant against the man was issued for charges of both murder and manslaughter in Turkey.
