Spectacular Theft - Police are looking for stolen gold worth millions
At Cologne/Bonn Airport, roughly one million Euros worth of Goldgranulate have been stolen. A thief may have taken the gold, which was packed in jute sacks, under his clothing.
The theft occurred on the 29th of January, but the gold has not reappeared yet.
The police have reportedly suspected a 35-year-old employee of a cargo handling company for stealing the gold from a safe at the airport. However, a search of his residence in Curen failed to yield any results.
New Suspect
Now, a potential accomplice is in the spotlight, according to the police. They are searching for him with images from a surveillance camera at the airport.
The accomplice is believed to have presented himself as the owner on the 26th of January and demanded the release of the safe. However, since he did not have the necessary papers, the employees refused to release the safe.
The investigation into the theft at Cologne/Bonn Airport has expanded beyond the initial suspect.
The police are now focusing on a second individual, whose identity remains unknown, in connection with the million-valued goldgranulate theft in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Surveillance footage from around the time of the incident at Cologne/Bonn Airport is being used to track down the new suspect.
The police are appealing to the public for any information that could help in the identification and apprehension of the second individual involved in the gold theft in Cologne.
