On a short trip to the Philippines, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky expressed gratitude for the nation's support and participation in the upcoming peace summit being planned. "I'm thrilled to hear that you'll be a part of our peace initiative," Zelensky shared during a discussions in Manila.

Prior to this, Zelensky had been at the Shangri-La Dialog in Singapore, which is considered to be one of the most important security forums in the Indo-Pacific area. As per his statements, over 100 countries are now anticipated to gather for the peace summit on June 15 and 16, organized by Switzerland at the request of Ukraine in Lucerne. This summit's purpose is to expand worldwide assistance for the affected country.

"We'll carry on with all possible means to foster peace, finish the conflicts, and obtain a political resolution," Marcos Jr. commented during the meeting. "Everyone realizes it's not just easy talk and we're about to travel a tough path back to a morally acceptable situation, not just for Ukraine but for the entire world." It wasn't yet confirmed if Marcos Jr. would personally represent the Philippines at the gathering.

The Ukrainian president's statement that Ukraine would launch an embassy in the Southeast Asian island nation this year was lauded by the Filipino counterpart as "terrific news." Diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Ukraine have been maintained formally since April 1992. Prior to Russia's invasion, around 200 Filipinos and Filipinas were residing and working in Ukraine, the majority of whom have since returned to their homeland.
