Federal Election - Petersdotter relies on Habeck

Schleswig-Holstein's Green Party faction leader Lasse Petersdotter expects Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck to be the Spitzenkandidate for the Greens in the upcoming election. "It's completely clear that Habeck should lead this party into the next Bundestag campaign," Petersdotter said. "Anything else, in my opinion, would be absurd now. We shouldn't decide on the name of the whole event too far from a Bundestag election."

Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has announced her resignation as a Green Party Chancellor candidate. She justifies her decision by stating that her role as Foreign Minister in the current crisis periods is a priority for her. Federal Minister Habeck is considered the most likely Chancellor candidate. In 2021, the Greens reached 14.7 percent with Baerbock as Chancellor candidate. Now, they are below that mark in all surveys.
