Persistent Blockage Causes Shutdown of A3 Northbound Lane
An insignificant-looking structure off the A3 highway at Kaiserberg interchange hides a mystery: A peculiar hole has manifested. The cause remains unknown. This subterranean cavity, though relatively compact at the opening, stretches significantly deeper and wider beneath. Multiple attempts to fill this enigma have proven futile thus far, with the concrete mysteriously vanishing into the abyss.
Traffic on the A3 route towards Arnhem has been partially halted by a sinking section of road, according to a motorway representative. Construction workers, surveying the scene during the night, failed to successfully fill the hole. The missing concrete vanished into the abysmal depths.
At first glance on this Friday, only a minimal aperture, situated along the edge of the road, could be spotted. Beneath the asphalt, however, a depth of at least 2 meters and a width of 7 meters lurks, as stated by the motorway spokesperson. The roots of this mysterious hole's existence lies shrouded in mystery. Investigations are now underway to determine a method to fill the void. The A3 route towards the north is anticipated to remain shut for a minimum of over the weekend.
As a diversion, the motorway company suggests, from the Autobahnkreuz Kaiserberg, drivers should utilize the A40, A59, and A42 until the Autobahnkreuz Oberhausen-West. Motorists originating from Cologne and Düsseldorf should instead switch to the A524 towards Duisburg at the Autobahnkreuz Breitscheid, followed by the A59 and A42 until the Autobahnkreuz Oberhausen-West.
