In Brazil, a passenger plane has reportedly crashed. The aircraft crashed in the city of Vinhedo in the Brazilian state of São Paulo, the fire department reported. No further details were provided. It was initially unclear how many people were on board.
The aircraft was said to have capacity for dozens of passengers. Initially, no local airline reported any of its planes missing. The Brazilian airport authority, Infraero, did not initially confirm a crash.
The Brazilian news channel TV GloboNews showed footage of a large area engulfed in flames, appearing to show smoke rising from a plane part. Further footage showed a plane plummeting vertically and spinning.
The crash left numerous victims, as yet unconfirmed due to the lack of official reports. The emergency services are currently working to identify and assist the victims.
