General renovation - Passenger Association is skeptical about Riedbahn replacement traffic
The Passenger Association Pro Bahn views the bus replacement service during the Riedbahn renovation critically. "It's quite likely that some people will go and switch to their cars despite this," says Federal Chairman Detlef Neuß to the German Press Agency. The bus replacement service is a burden for passengers and may push them away from the railway system.
I'm not yet convinced about the bus replacement station at Frankfurt Main Station, Neuß adds. "I also thought to myself, if many people come and it then rains heavily, they'll all get wet and it'll be chaotic."
However, you can't get around the so-called corridor renovation anymore, Neuß tells the German Press Agency. "We've neglected and underfinanced the railway for decades. The infrastructure has been run down. Now only radical measures remain." With this type of construction site, "you're entering new territory," Neuß continues. "And even with meticulous planning, unexpected things can still happen - including during the bus replacement service."
The General renovation of the railway, particularly the Riedbahn, has led to the need for a bus replacement service, causing concern among the Passenger Association Pro Bahn. This situation might encourage some passengers to switch to their cars, as expressed by Federal Chairman Detlef Neuß. Furthermore, the bus replacement station at Frankfurt am Main Station has raised questions due to potential issues in case of heavy rain, according to Neuß. Despite the inevitable corridor renovation, which has been neglected and underfunded for decades, Neuß acknowledges the challenges that come with such construction sites, including the bus replacement service.
