New judgment - Partner assaulted and murdered - over 14 years of imprisonment

A man has raped, killed, and disturbed the peace of his partner - the 39-year-old is therefore sentenced to 14 years and 9 months in prison. The Oldenburg Court made this correction, as a spokesperson for the court announced. Originally, the Oldenburg Court had sentenced the German man to 15 years in prison in February 2023 in Brake (Wesermarsch district) for raping, injuring, and killing his 50-year-old life partner.

The accused, who has been in investigative detention since his arrest, filed a revision. The Federal Court of Justice had no doubts about the guilt of the 39-year-old, but criticized the lack of justification for the sentence.

The Oldenburg Court therefore held another hearing on the sentence. The prosecution and the plaintiff demanded 15 years in prison again, while the defense demanded a lower sentence. In the end, the accused was sentenced to 14 years and 9 months in prison for manslaughter, rape, and disturbance of peaceful repose. The judgment is not yet legally binding.

The man's 50-year-old girlfriend, whose peaceful repose was disturbed and whose life was tragically taken in Lower Saxony, hailed from Brake, a town located within the Wesermarsch district. Despite the reduction in his sentence, the 39-year-old perpetrator will spend the remainder of his years in prison, paying the ultimate price for his criminality. His girlfriend, now resting in peace, will never forget the love they shared in Oldenburg.
