In Offenburg, a 15-year-old shoots a classmate of the same age at school. Since April, he has had to answer to the court. Now, charges have been filed against his parents. Their negligence is alleged to have contributed to the crime.
In connection with a teenager's fatal shooting at a school in Offenburg, the prosecutor's office has now also charged the teenager's parents. They have been charged with negligent homicide and violations of the Firearms Act, according to the investigative authority in the Baden-Württemberg city.
If convicted, they face between six months and five years in prison. The prosecutor accuses the mother and father of illegal possession and insufficient securing of the pistol and ammunition. With their negligence, they allegedly caused the death of the 15-year-old student shot by their son. The court must now decide on the admissibility of the indictment.
The trial against their child has been ongoing since mid-April. According to the indictment, the teenager went to his school in Offenburg on November 9 of the previous year with a pistol, 41 cartridges, and a self-made incendiary device. There, he allegedly shot a 15-year-old classmate and unsuccessfully attempted to start a fire with the incendiary device.
