Pakistan will initiate a transgender-operated transportation service.

Lahore, the bustling city of Pakistan, unhitches its first transgender taxi service for the nation. This service is intended for both the transgender community and women, as per the CEO's declaration. The distinctive pink-and-white taxis, branded with "SheDrives," have been zipping around Lahore's streets for a few days, with the primary aim of shielding passengers from mistreatment. Expansion plans to incorporate other cities are currently in the works. Commuters can easily schedule a ride using a mobile application.

Transgender individuals in Pakistan often exist on society's outskirts, despite existing laws that prohibit discriminatory practices against them. They endure not only mistreatment but also regular instances of homicide and kidnapping. Pakistan welcomed a hotline in 2022, specifically designed for transgender individuals to report instances of harassment.

Public harassment is also an endemic issue for women when it comes to transportation. Some of Pakistan's enormous metropolises have launched pink buses to exclusively serve female passengers.

The pink-and-white taxis, part of Lahore's new transgender taxi service, aim to protect passengers from harassment. Regardless of the city, transgender individuals continue to encounter harassment, making the hotline launched in 2022 crucial for reporting such incidents.
