Over twenty lives lost during ongoing monsoon downpours in Bangladesh.
Relentless downpours in Bangladesh have claimed at least 20 lives so far. Over 5.2 million individuals have been impacted by the flooding, as per information disclosed on Sunday. In a broadcasted address, the leader of the interim government, award-winning peace advocate Mohammad Yunus, urged for swift assistance to help flood victims restart their regular lives.
Close to half a million individuals have sought shelter in approximately 3,500 designated areas in the affected eleven districts. The country's weather department mentioned that the water is withdrawing at a snail's pace, and additional rainfall might prolong the flooding.
Despite the withdrawal of water at a slow pace, the fear of further deaths due to flooding remains high. The overall death toll from the floods, including the 20 lives already claimed, is a cause for great concern.
