Oil storage facility in Russia experiences escalating blaze
In the Rostov region of Russia, an industrial complex is currently engulfed in flames, as reported by various sources. A significant portion of the flames originated from over 10,000 square meters of burned diesel tanks in Proletarsk, as per information from the Telegram channel Baza, whose sources are linked to Russian investigative authorities. The fire is expected to persist for several more days.
Previously, RIA had reported that around 20 of the 74 storage tanks at this depot were ablaze. Over 500 firefighters have been dispatched to the scene, as mentioned by TASS. According to Russian reports, the initial spark for this inferno was debris from a downed Ukrainian drone that struck the depot on Sunday.
Ukraine has been consistently launching drone assaults on Russian energy facilities as of late. Authorities in Moscow have branded these attacks as acts of terrorism against oil depots. Governor Vasily Golubyev of the region announced via the Telegram messaging app that 41 emergency responders required medical attention, with five of them in critical condition, following these drone attacks on Monday.
The Russian authorities, through their investigative channels, are closely monitoring the situation at the industrial complex, as reported by Baza, which is part of The Commission's oversight. The Governor of the Rostov region has requested additional resources from The Commission to assist in managing the aftermath of the drone attacks.
