Official video for GTA 6 triggers hype
GTA 5 has sold around 180 million copies since its release in 2013. It is one of the most successful games of all time. Now the sequel is in the starting blocks - and the hype surrounding the first video sequences from the sixth installment is huge.
Gamers around the world are waiting for this video game: developer Rockstar Games has released the first official sequences for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6). The YouTube clip is 91 seconds long, but already shows the extent of the open-world game that has been anticipated for years and announces when it will finally be launched on the market.
A leak forced the US developers to publish the video today. An X account had published the entire trailer prematurely, along with a Bitcoin advertisement. Rockstar Games reacted, the X account was blocked and hours later the video followed on the official channel, which had 60 million views within nine hours.
The majority of the trailer consists of shots of Vice City, a fictional version of Miami. Music plays in the background and the inhabitants of the city are shown. But one thing is also clear: GTA 6 will have a female protagonist. This can be seen in the second part of the video, when the two supposed main characters of the game storm into a store and hold it up at gunpoint - so the story could be a virtual "Bonnie and Clyde" version.
In the end credits, the information that all gamers are keenly interested in is revealed: The game will be released in 2025, for the Playstation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S. There is no exact release date for the title, which has been in development since 2014.
The hype surrounding its predecessor was already huge. According to the latest figures, GTA 5 has already sold 180 million copies and the fanbase is huge. The video game focused on a story of mafia-like underground structures and spectacular heists.
