Obtaining absolute power through the Morpheus Project.

Sometimes, reality can be so harsh that folks yearn for an alternative, more delightful realm: the realm of dreams, named Somna. But what transpires when these two realms overlap? A gripping German fantasy saga continues with "Lucid Truth."

In dreams, anything is feasible: you can have Germany emerge victorious in the upcoming World Cup, or make Eintracht Frankfurt the champions. You could lead a nation as the SPD chairman and chancellor, or dominate music festivals as a guitar virtuoso. Or you can envision a more prosperous future, one where humans coexist peacefully and preserve nature instead of destroying it. Dreams are enchanting, crucial elements. Yet, what if one is unable to dream, or if one is plagued by nightmares alone?

This is the captivating universe of the "Lucid" series authored by bestselling author Nina Martin. Selena and Ria find themselves in this predicament. They cannot dream themselves, but as "dreamwalkers" they can delve into the dreams of others and alter them. Even better, they are known as morphisms, particularly mighty dreamwalkers. There are mere three in the world.

While Selena has already embraced her gift and utilizes it, Ria uncovers it during an internship at the legendary Dream Union. The issue: dreamwalkers are traditionally depicted as male. This is what the Dream Union claims, which is controlled by three powerful families and whose only goal is absolute power and control - through the mysterious Morpheus project. The general public is unaware of this, and it should stay that way.

Two Ordinary Heroines

The Dream Union is an outdated power system. It requires dismantling, transformation to a more effective alternative. This challenge falls on the two teenagers, Selena and Ria, who are unaware of each other as of yet, but will be introduced in "Lucid Night", the first book of the fantasy young adult series. Besides Selena, Ria also encounters Yunus, the influential social media influencer of the Dream Union. He recognizes Ria as well and appears to side with her. Love knows no boundaries. However, the boundary between the dream world of Somna and the real world of Corpora is not as flexible.

Thanks to a scheme by the Dream Union, these boundaries are shattered, and the two worlds begin to merge. What was previously possible only in Somna can now be achieved in Corpora: dream transformations. Dreamwalkers can create things, defy the laws of physics. The leadership of the Dream Union sees this as an opportunity. But a formidable opponent also sees it as a chance.

Selena and Ria find themselves caught in the crossfire, needing to decide their allegiances. The protagonists of the "Lucid" series also face challenges more common and trivial than the end of the world and humanity. They grapple with growing up, finding their place in life, falling in love, making mistakes, falling down, wiping their mouths, getting back up, and moving on.

Just Simply Dreamy

"Lucid Truth", the second book in Martin's fantasy trilogy, tackles all these issues. The two narrative strands of Selena and Ria, narrated emotionally by Regine Lange and Marylu Poolman, finally converge at the end of book two. But not without a spectacular clash that would outshine a Hollywood action blockbuster, providing the perfect cliffhanger for the final, third book in the series.

However, there will be no more revelations. Apart from the fact that the "Lucid" series appeals to fans of fantasy sagas like "The Hunger Games", "Harry Potter", or "The Mortal Instruments", but also to romantic enthusiasts. There's the initial doubt, the pushing beyond oneself. There's the epic struggle between Good and Evil. There are the ups and downs of life - all skillfully packaged by Martin in the infinite world of dreams. The "Lucid" series, published by S. Fischer and Argon, provides unlimited possibilities. It offers pure emotion, heart-stopping suspense and action. However, it's also a heart-wrenching love story - and thus an extraordinary reading and listening experience for all who cherish daydreaming. Just simply dreamy.

In the world of "Lucid Truth," the overlap between reality and dreams leads to extraordinary abilities, allowing dreamwalkers to defy physics and create as they please. Yet, this power becomes a tool for control in the hands of the powerful Dream Union, causing Selena and Ria to face challenging choices and potential allegiances.

Immersed in the second book of the "Lucid" series, "Lucid Truth," readers are treated to a heart-stopping clash between Selena, Ria, and the Dream Union, culminating in a cliffhanger that leaves them eagerly awaiting the final installment.
