Obama celebrates Harris' accomplishments: "Indeed, she does"

At the Democratic National Gathering in Chicago, the stage is jam-packed with notable political figures. Alongside Harris' spouse, Doug Emhoff, Michelle and Barack Obama also join the stage. Barack's speech ignites excitement but also serves as a reminder.

Barack Obama urged the Democratic Party to stand behind their president hopeful, Kamala Harris. "Kamala Harris is prepared for the role," he declared at the Democratic National Gathering in Chicago. "Yes, she can!" he proclaimed, referencing his iconic 2008 campaign motto, "Yes, we can!" The audience of thousands immediately echoed with chants of "Yes, she can!" interruptions later in his speech.

"She's dedicated her entire life to offering people the same opportunities America gave her," Obama expressed about Harris. "She sees you, she hears you. She'll champion every American."

However, Obama also warned that the competition against Republican candidate Donald Trump would be tight. "It won't be simple," he said. But if the party pushes harder than ever within the following 11 weeks leading up to the election, Harris could ascend to the title of US President. "Let's buckle down," the 63-year-old prompted the delegates.

"Optimism returns"

Barack Obama was introduced by his wife Michelle, who is often considered a potential future president herself. "America, optimism is back," she declared to thunderous applause. She also cautioned against Trump's attempts to undermine Harris, as he had done with the Obamas.

"His limited and enclosed mindset makes him feel detrimental towards the existence of two diligent, well-educated, successful individuals who simply happen to be black," she expressed. "Who's going to tell him that the position he's contending for might be one of those 'black jobs'?" she joked, causing laughter from the crowd.

Doug Emhoff, Harris' spouse, also addressed the assembly. "She's prepared," he said. "She radiates optimism and resilience in this crucial moment in our nation's history. At this time, she is the perfect president."

The Democratic National Gathering is scheduled to continue in Chicago until Thursday. On Tuesday, the party symbolically chose Harris as their presidential candidate. "Thank you... see you in two days, Chicago," Harris said via video from a campaign event in Milwaukee. She pledged to hold Trump responsible for his actions at the polls. "I believe misconduct ought to have consequences. We will make sure he experiences the consequences, and that will happen at the polls in November," she stated.

In his speech, Barack Obama highlighted Chicago as the venue for his support of Kamala Harris, mentioning, "I'm here in Chicago to stand behind our president hopeful." Later, Michelle Obama expressed her optimism for America, stating, "Optimism returns to Chicago as we support Kamala Harris."
