Railroad - Nuremberg gets direct connection to Munich Airport
Nuremberg will have a direct train connection to Munich Airport. Starting in December, there will be a direct train every two hours from Nuremberg to the airport via Regensburg, according to the Bayerische Eisenbahngesellschaft (BEG). The train already running between Regensburg and the airport will be extended. DB Regio and the Verkehrsgesellschaft Agilis will be the operators.
Specifically, the regularly running RE50 train between Nuremberg and Regensburg will be connected every second hour with the RE 22 Regensburg-Airport train, and the capacity of the trains will be increased. The journey time is two and a half hours. This is significantly longer than the alternative, which is to travel from Nuremberg to Munich by ICE train and then by S-Bahn to the airport. This more tiring option, which involves changing, usually takes less than two hours according to the railway booking system.
Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) spoke of a "full hit" for the better railway connection. In this regard, the greater Nuremberg area and western Oberpfalz also benefit, as the airport express stops in Neumarkt, Parsberg and Beratzhausen. In addition, Freising, Moosburg, Landshut and western Niederbayern will again have a direct connection to Nuremberg.
- The new train connection from Nuremberg to Munich Airport via Regensburg, initiated by BEG, will significantly enhance railroad travel in Bavaria.
- This direct train connection, operated by DB Regio and Agilis, will include an extended RE50 train running between Nuremberg and Regensburg every second hour, connecting with the RE 22 train to the airport.
- The increased capacity of these trains will provide a more comfortable journey for passengers traveling from Nuremberg to Munich Airport, lasting approximately two and a half hours.
- Although air traffic to Munich Airport is convenient for some, the new train connection offers a more environmentally friendly and less tiring alternative, especially for travelers starting their journey in Nuremberg.
- This new train connection, which will also stop at Neumarkt, Parsberg, Beratzhausen, Freising, Moosburg, Landshut, and other locations in western Niederbayern, will provide a significant improvement in transportation options for residents and visitors in these areas.
