Numerous wildfires are currently engulfing forests across Canada.
Numerous wildfires are presently blazing across Canada, as declared by the responsible organization, CIFFC (Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center). This entity has reported over 800 active fires, with 223 of them being out of control. Even the famous Jasper National Park in the western section of the country has been touched by these infernos, enduring flames for weeks on end.
As a result of these wildfires, the park in the Canadian Rockies has been closed to tourists, as indicated on the park's online platform. All camping reservations until September 3rd have been canceled due to the fires. The affected area spans more than 33,000 hectares.
Following an evacuation order, the town of Jasper welcomed its residents back last Friday, as reported by the Canadian news agency, Canadian Press. Nearly a third of the town's infrastructure has been damaged by the fires.
Images depicted entire neighborhoods transformed into ashes. Among the ruins of houses, burnt-out vehicles and charred trees stood out. "It's as if you're living in the midst of an apocalypse or a war zone," a local resident was quoted as saying.
Canada suffered severe wildfires on an unprecedented scale last year. Experts caution that due to climate change, fires are becoming increasingly common and devastating.
The Jasper National Park, known for its rugged beauty, is currently fighting wildfires that have been raging for weeks. Despite the damage, the park authorities are yet to reopen the area, given the large extent of the affected land, covering over 33,000 hectares.
