Now after all: Haley releases delegate votes for Trump ahead of party convention

In the winter, Nikki Haley did not have a good word to say about Donald Trump during the party's internal primary campaign. Now the former rival is officially backing the 78-year-old.

US election - Now after all: Haley releases delegate votes for Trump ahead of party convention

Former US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley endorses Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention. The 52-year-old has released the delegates' votes she won during the primaries, according to US media reports, urging the 97 delegates at the upcoming week's convention in Milwaukee to vote for Trump as the presidential candidate.

These delegates can do so but are not required to. It is a symbolic act as Trump reached the necessary 1215 delegate threshold from the Republicans in March and is not reliant on their votes.

Nikki Haley bolsters Donald Trump's bid

The former US Ambassador to the United Nations had waged a lengthy primary battle against Trump, but was ultimately unsuccessful and conceded defeat. Immediately after her withdrawal, Haley publicly refused to endorse Trump.

In May, she announced that she would vote for Trump in the November election. Haley and Trump had clashed fiercely during the primary campaign, and for some Republicans, Haley, considered somewhat more moderate, was a less rhetorically aggressive and younger alternative to the 78-year-old Trump.

Biden vs. Trump: A rematch?

"The nomination convention is a time for Republican unity," Haley reportedly wrote to the media. Joe Biden is not capable of serving another term, and Kamala Harris would be a "disaster for America," she added. "We need a president who holds our enemies accountable, secures our border, erases our debts, and gets our economy back on track. I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee." She will not be participating in the convention herself, it was reported. Trump had previously ruled out making her his vice presidential candidate.

So far, it appears that the US election campaign will see a rematch between Trump and Biden, who intends to run again and has already secured the necessary delegate votes for his candidacy. However, a debate has arisen among Democrats regarding whether Biden, at the age of 81, is the right candidate. After the TV debacle against Trump two weeks ago, there is also controversy among Democrats about whether Biden is the right candidate due to his advanced age.

  1. Nikki Haley, despite waging a tough primary battle against Donald Trump and initially refusing to endorse him, now urges the 97 delegates at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee to vote for Trump, citing the need for a president who holds enemies accountable and secures the border.
  2. The 52-year-old Former US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, who won delegates during the primaries, advocates for Trump during the pre-election campaign in Milwaukee, pointing out that Biden at 81 is not the right candidate for Democrats and a "disaster for America" if elected as vice president.
  3. Following her endorsement of Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention, Nikki Haley, who previously clashed with Trump during the Republicans' pre-election campaign, will not be participating in the convention herself, but encourages her delegates to vote for the 78-year-old Trump in Milwaukee for his ability to hold enemies accountable and secure the border.
