North Korea conducts test-firing of missile equipped with an expansive warhead of significant magnitude.
North Korea's leader, Kim, is reportedly boosting his military presence at the border with South Korea. As per their own declarations, North Korea is currently experimenting with a massive-capacity warhead rocket and an advanced cruise missile.
KCNA, the official North Korean news agency, stated that the test was overseen by Kim Jong Un himself. Alongside the new, high-capacity warhead-equipped rocket, a modernized cruise missile also underwent testing on Wednesday.
According to KCNA, the new rocket was furnished with a 4.5-ton warhead as designed. The cruise missile's combat capabilities were significantly enhanced.
South Korea had earlier reported North Korea's Thursday tests, which involved the launching of short-range ballistic missiles. Relations between North and South Korea are currently strained. In early August, Kim Jong Un announced his plans to strengthen North Korea's border forces with 250 ballistic rocket launchers.
Recently, North Korea has also strengthened its ties with Russia. The US and South Korea allege that North Korea has been supplying Russia with weapons and rockets for its conflict against Ukraine. Ukraine also confirms discovering North Korean ammunition at impact sites within their borders. However, North Korea dismisses these allegations as "ridiculous."
North Korea, led by Kim, is continuing to bolster its military presence at the border with South Korea, as demonstrated by the recent tests of a massive-capacity warhead rocket and an advanced cruise missile. Despite tensions between the two Koreas, their relation with global powers like Russia and the United States remains complex, with accusations of weapons supply but denials from North Korea.
