Nikki Haley will win over Skeptics for Trump
A few months ago, Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis were rivals in the Republican presidential primary against Trump. Now they publicly strengthen his back. Haley's engagement is particularly noteworthy.
Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis, once bitter political opponents of Donald Trump, showed their support for the Republican presidential candidate at the party convention and called for unity. Haley addressed Trump skeptics in her speech. "We should acknowledge that there are some Americans who do not agree with Donald Trump 100%. I happen to know some of them, and I want to speak to them tonight," the former governor of the US state of South Carolina said. She was one of them, she added. "I am here tonight because we have a country to save, and a united Republican Party is essential to saving it."
Haley had waged a long-running battle for the Republican presidential nomination against Trump in the primaries, but was ultimately unsuccessful and dropped out. Immediately after her withdrawal, she publicly refused to endorse Trump. Haley questioned Trump's fitness for the presidency in the primary campaign, and Trump made derogatory comments about her daughter, who is an Indian immigrant. The relationship between Trump and Haley was considered so poor that President Joe Biden even courted her support and praised her courage for running against Trump.

DeSantis had also considered a presidential bid but dropped out of the race in Iowa in January. Unlike Haley, he endorsed Trump immediately. However, the relationship between Trump and the Florida governor seemed to remain strained - they had also clashed fiercely during the primary campaign. "Send Joe Biden back to his basement and Donald Trump back to the White House," DeSantis said in Milwaukee to great applause.
At the convention, it was once again evident how much control Trump has over the entire party. The appearances of Haley and DeSantis reinforced this. "Everyone is rallying around the same person. It's very reassuring to see this unity," said delegate Bill Swenson from the state of Nebraska. Trump was officially nominated as the Presidential candidate of his party on Monday at the beginning of the convention and, as of now, will be running against Democratic incumbent Biden in the November election. Trump's nomination was a formality, as he had already won the necessary delegate votes in the primaries. Trump's big speech will be held on Friday night in the English evening.

Trump introduced Senator and bestselling author J.D. Vance as a candidate for the position of Vice President shortly after the convention began. The 39-year-old was also cheered on Tuesday evening (local time). When he entered the hall, the Country song "America First" played.
