Nikki Haley leaves her delegates to Trump

During the Democrats, doubts about their candidate Biden are rampant. Meanwhile, the Republicans are closing ranks. Former Republican candidate Nikki Haley has released the delegates' votes she won during the primaries and publicly endorsed the former president.

The former US Ambassador to the United Nations has endorsed Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump before the party convention coming next week in Milwaukee. Her delegates, who won with her during the primaries, can now vote for Trump as the presidential candidate but are not obligated to do so. This is a symbolic act as Trump reached the required number of 1215 delegates from the Republicans in March and does not depend on their votes.

Haley had waged a long-lasting battle for the Republican presidential nomination against Trump but was ultimately unsuccessful and conceded. Immediately after her exit, she refused to publicly endorse Trump. In May, she announced that she would vote for Trump in the November election. Haley and Trump had clashed fiercely during the primary campaign, and for some Republicans, Haley, considered somewhat moderate, was a less rhetorically aggressive and younger alternative to the 78-year-old Trump.

"The convention is a time for Republican unity," Haley wrote to the media. Biden is not capable of serving another term, and Vice President Kamala Harris would be a "disaster for America," she added. "We need a president who holds our enemies accountable, secures our border, erases our debts, and gets our economy back on track. I encourage my delegates to support Donald Trump next week in Milwaukee." She will not attend the convention herself, it was reported. Trump had already ruled out making her the vice presidential candidate a few weeks ago.

So far, it looks like there will be a rematch of the duel between Trump and Biden in the US election campaign, with Biden planning to run again on November 5 and having secured the necessary delegates for his candidacy. However, a debate has erupted among the Democrats about whether Biden, at the age of 81, is the right candidate.

Nikki Haley, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations and former Republican presidential candidate, has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for the US presidential election 2024. Despite her previous opposition to Trump during the primaries, she now encourages her delegates to support Trump at the upcoming Republican convention, highlighting his ability to hold enemies accountable, secure the border, erase debts, and get the economy back on track.
