Tech industry - New Samsung products under the banner of artificial intelligence
Samsung will equip its new Smartphones and Gadgets comprehensively with Artificial Intelligence (AI) functions. At the "Galaxy Unpacked" event at the Louvre in Paris, the South Korean electronics company presented a new generation of its foldable phones Flip and Fold, as well as its Buds and Buds Pro headphones, which are richly endowed with AI functions. For example, the headphones can automatically detect siren signals in the environment and lower the volume of the music playback, allowing users to be aware of the danger. Samsung Mobile Chief TM Roh said in Paris that his company had developed the first foldable smartphone and brought AI functions to mobile devices.
AI to Assist Users
Samsung is focusing on its own developed AI, which the South Koreans call Galaxy AI. At the same time, Samsung integrates Google's AI technology, such as the "Circle to Search" function. Users can mark a person or an object with a circular finger movement and recognize it on the screen through AI. To Samsung AI belong also comprehensive translation functions for written texts and spoken language.
In Paris, Samsung introduced a new generation of its smartwatches. The newly introduced model Galaxy Watch Ultra resembles the Apple Watch Ultra, which the iPhone maker introduced to the market in 2022. The rectangular case made of titanium and the orange button for calling up certain actions are strongly reminiscent of Apple's design.
Samsung Launches Sales of Fitness Tracker
However, in another product category, there is no counterpart from Apple: In Paris, Samsung started sales of the Galaxy Ring Fitness Tracker, which was first presented as a prototype in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The tracker looks like a bulky ring and can detect important health and fitness values using sensors on the inside. These data enable, among other things, a AI-assisted sleep analysis. Users can follow their menstrual cycle better through nightly temperature monitoring of the skin.
The Galaxy Ring also monitors heart health: If heart rates are unusually high or low, the fitness tracker triggers a pulse warning via the Samsung Health App. In addition, the Galaxy Ring is intended to motivate users to an active lifestyle. An inactivity alarm reminds users to move. Ring-shaped fitness trackers are currently only available from comparatively small providers like Oura, Ultrahuman, Ringconn or Evie, which sometimes require a monthly service subscription. Samsung offers the Ring without a subscription and charges around 450 Euros for it.
